Team Crawford runs NASCAR oval

March 16-17, 2007

FONTANA, CA - Ok so, we didn't actually run with the NASCAR guys, but we did run California Speedway's Oval track, set a new track record in our class, and took a first place finish!

It all started on March 16 when the Crawford Widebody Subaru arrived to a special event put together by the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). Typically, NASA racing events are held on more "standard" road circuit courses. This time NASA decided to do things different, combine California Speedway's infield road course with the 14-degree banked D-shaped Oval. The result was a 17-turn 2.8 mile super track.

Creating such an event always draws a crowd of race car fanatics. It is no wonder that 420 NASA competitors and several hundred spectators decided to attend this once a year event. To our surprise there were a number of people who were eagerly waiting to watch the Crawford Widebody Subaru in action.

While fans and rivals watched, the Crawford team hustled around in 90+ degree weather taking tire temps, changing suspension settings, repairing a few broken axles, and drinking plenty of water. All the efforts paid off when Driver, Russ Warr, not only pushed the Crawford Subaru to the fastest time of the day, 1:47.6, but also broke the previous class record by 3 seconds! That new record was more than enough for the Crawford Subaru to win 1st place in Friday's and Saturday's TTU Class.
