Redline Time Attack 2007 Season Opener
2/10-11
FONTANA, CA - The opening event for the 2007 Redline Time
Attack season saw several Garrett-powered competitors in top
spots! Over 85 competitors made it out to the track to see who
was the fastest.
The Crawford Performance Subaru STI was one of the stars of the
show on both Saturday and Sunday. The car was driven to and from
the track and retains a full interior. With a GT3582R under
the hood, the Subbie was pulling double-duty in both the Modified
AWD class as well as the Unlimited AWD class; a feat that no other
team dared to attempt. Tanner Foust was in control of the car for
the Unlimited AWD class while Russ Warr took control for the
Modified AWD trips around the 13 turns of the 1.45 mile track on
the infield of the California Speedway. The Subaru was expertly dialed
in by the Crawford crew, despite the rain that plagued the course
on Sunday morning. The nation's fastest road racing STI took home
more accolades as the Modified AWD champion with a best lap time of
1:11.515. This time would also be good enough to award the widebody
Subaru the crown of Modified Class Champion. The Crawford car would
also finish runner-up in the Unlimited AWD class with a time of
1:10.318, completing the trio of awards that the car and team would
receive!
A second Crawford Subaru STI joined the silver car on the podium.
The black Subaru driven by Kevin Jones zipped around the course in
a lean 1:14.681 with the help of the popular GT3582R and the
hard-working Crawford team.
The winner of the Unlimited AWD class was the beautifully
painted and tuned AMS Mitsubishi Evolution. A Garrett turbo
provided through distributor Precision Turbo and Engine helped
this expertly-driven Evo make it around the track in 1:08.861;
the second best time of the entire weekend! Only a fully-prepped
GMG Porsche GT3 was able to do better.
The Porsche ran in the popular Unlimited RWD class.
Its time of 1:08.656 narrowly edged out JIC Magic USA's
Silvia S15 which placed second with a time of 1:08.928.
Drifting phenom Tyler McQuarrie pushed the car to within
.33 seconds of an overall championship.
In the vendor midway, the Garrett team was able to show
off the brand new Chevrolet Cobalt turbo kit. The clean look
drew a lot of attention from the crowds, but the performance
impressed those members of the media who were able to drive it!
Don't be too surprised to see the Garrett Cobalt participating in
an upcoming Time Attack event.
