Ladwig Records Historic 200 MPH Pro FWD Pass
4/22/2007

Petersburg (VA) - Marty Ladwig enjoyed one of the biggest weekends of his career on the ¼ mile track at Virginia Motorsports Park. Not only did Marty overcome the field of contenders including Garrett-sponsored racers Bryan Jimenez and 2005-6 Pro FWD champ Ed Bergenholtz to take home the Wally, but he also set a new national record for the lowest ET at 7.31 seconds. During the backup run necessary for the record to be official, Marty powered his Garrett-powered Chevy Cobalt to an astonishing 200.17 MPH; only the second time in history that a front wheel drive car has ever trapped over 200. The first? Marty.
"It feels great," said Ladwig. "For us to come to come out this weekend at a good track and use the full potential of the car was big. The main thing was to get the maximum points (138 for No. 1 qualifier, national record, and event win) as far as the championship. The icing on the cake was to run 200 mph. We are the only ones to do it in Pro FWD in the Lucas Oil Chevrolet Cobalt. I want to thank Lucas, K&N, Borla and the tremendous horsepower provided by Garrett Turbo."
