Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 wins at Englishtown and increases chances for a repeat NHRA PROFWD Championship!

The Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 took the win at NHRA's Englishtown event and increased the likelihood Ed Bergenholtz will repeat again another back to back NHRA PROFWD Championship. The Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed Team made some minor changes to the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 in hopes of running better et's and taking down the GM/Rousch PROFWD brigade of vehicles. Ed Bergenholtz was able to pilot the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 in the number 5 spot with a7.90@147mph. "During qualifying we were testing a lot of the new components we implemented into the car. None of the qualifying runs were all-out passes. We did find out that the car was making some phenomenal half track times. In fact, we were running half track times during qualifying that would net 7.50's in eliminations. I was not worried one bit. Unfortunately and fortunately, our qualifying position would put us up against Marty Ladwig in the first round. The whole team was so nervous. I felt like throwing up for God's sake! I knew that, that first round against Marty would decide the championship. We had to go all the way and beat him that first round," said Ed Bergenholtz pilot of the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6.

In the first round for the 2006 PROFWD Championship Ed Bergenholtz would pilot the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 to a win and knock out Marty Ladwig and the Lucas Oil Cobalt. Ed Bergenholtz would out-react Marty right at the starting line with a .04 light to Marty's .09 light and at the same time pilot the Mazdaspeed 6 to the 2ndquickest ET of the season for a PROFWD car. Ed Bergenholtz destroyed the Lucas Oil Cobalt with a7.530@189mphto Marty's12.0@84mph. The team was extremely excited considering how crucial that first round win was, to possibly winning another 2006 NHRA PROFWD Championship. "At first I was extremelyhappy to seethe win light in our lane and to top it all off we ran a7.53@189mph, the secondquickest PROFWD ET of the season. I wentcompletely nuts and lost it. The crowdwas totally rooting for us and I saw it right when we won. It was the most stressful thing I have evergone through and at the same time the most joyous! The whole team was celebrating. My God, I love racing!" said Ron BergenholtzTeam Manager of the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed raceteam.

After the elimination of the Lucas Oil Cobalt, Ed Bergenholtz would have to face the Everyone's Mortgage Cobalt of Bryan Jimenez. Yet again, another Rousch/GM built Cobalt would have to be conquered to get to the PROFWD Finals. Ed Bergenholtz would pilot the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 to victory with a7.73@189mphto Bryan Jimenez's7.80@182mph. Ed Bergenholtz would also out-react Bryan Jimenez with a .07 to Bryan's .08reaction time. It would be another road to the finals and the 15thcareer final for Ed Bergenholtz.

In the Final round, Ed Bergenholtz would face yet again another GM vehicle. He would be up against Ron Townsend of the Bothwell Motorsports Cavalier. This PROFWD round would be the most exciting NHRA Finals rounds of the weekend. Ron Townsend and Ed Bergenholtz would have a staging battle right at the starting line. Ed managed to out-react Ron Townsend at the line but the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6 would bog right out the box. Townsend started to experience engine trouble at about half tract despite being ahead by approximately eight car lengths. Ed Bergenholtz would never give up and gotthe Mazda 6 out of the bog and barreled down the quarter mile and pass the Bothwell Cavalier at the end and take the win with a 9.1 seconds at 188mph to Townsend's10.1@120mph. "That was one helluva a Final! The car hooked up so good at the line my foot came off the gas pedal which resulted in the bog. The Mazda 6 has been really hookin' up all weekend long and that last pass must have been one great 60 foot time. I have never felt it pull so hard at the line before. This win was such a great win. It has been nothing but exciting drama all weekend long! All I know is that we got the Mazda figured out now and Team Audiobahn is aiming for another win at the NHRA Pomona Finals. What a win in Englishtown!" said Ed Bergenholtz pilot of the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed6.

With the glorious win in Englishtown, Ed Bergenholtz is in a good position to win back-to-back NHRA PROFWD Championships. "It will be quite an accomplishment to capture the championship again back to back," said Ed Bergenholtz, pilot of the Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed6.

Team Audiobahn is slated to attend the last race of the NHRA Sport Compact season on October 21-22 at Pomonaraceway. Bergenholtz Racing invites all its sponsors as well as close friends for food and enjoyment. "We always look forward to the last race of the year. Ed's mom brings some good Filipino cooking to the race as well as some good barbecue! It was a grand party last year. We fed almost all our competitors, sponsors, friends, family and the NHRA," said Rommel Figueroa crew chief of the ALL MOTORMazda 3.
