Garrett turbocharged Audi R10 Wins


AudiR10Wins The Garrett turbocharged Audi R10 has once again written a piece of motorsports history: It is now the first Le Mans Prototype to remain unbeaten in its début season. The eighth and final victory was recorded at the American Le Mans series finale in Laguna Seca, California where the Audi R10 claimed the first and second place victories. This win also earned Audi the honor of being the first manufacturer to win all races in a season in the LM P1 class of the American Le Mans Series.

The turbodiesel engine's low fuel consumption played a staring role in the R10's the victory. While the competitors had to come into the pits during the final hour for re-fuelling, both R10 TDI cars finished the race without another pit-stop. Allan McNish was able to complete 64 of the 159 laps with a single tank of diesel - eight more than before.

With 23 overall victories, Dindo Capello has become the most successful driver of the American Le Mans Series. Dindo Capello and Allan McNish, who had already clinched the Drivers' title, won eight times while Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro won two races in the American Le Mans series.
