Ron Lummus Rises to the Challenge

After last year’s phenomenal finish, Ron Lummus, the pilot for Garrett / Bothwell and owner of RLR Motorsports, expects nothing less than perfection this year. For Ron, it’s about "winning races, breaking records, taking names and having fun." And he warns, "from where I sit, all I can say is look out!"

Ron holds the current world record for the quickest and fastest turbocharged VW sedan (8.42 @173 mph) and has held records for the world’s quickest and fastest normally-aspirated VWs. With the Turbo by Garrett / Bothwell Pontiac Sunfire, he holds the NHRA Hot Rod e.t. and mph records (7.88@ 188.70 mph) as well as the NDRA PRO 4 Cylinder e.t. and mph records (8.09 @ 186.51).

And with his passion for speed, this is only the beginning. Fans should once again brace themselves as Ron pushes himself and his car as far as they will go - rising to the challenge and bringing home the win.


Under the Hood

The Garrett GT Racecar is a culmination of several years of R&D and testing. The Bothwell Motorsports EcoTec engine equipped with a Garrett turbocharger produces an unbelievable amount of horsepower.

Garrett’s ball bearing cartridge has proven its worth in the highest level of motorsports, establishing itself as the bearing system of choice. Premier racing customers demand no less than the best in durability, reliability and power on demand. The high efficiency, high flowing GT wheels provide the massive airflow needed at launch for the high performance drag racing engine and Garrett turbochargers have withstood the harshest imaginable conditions time and time again without failing.
